ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED

INTRODUCTION

Thank you for listening to the Narrow Way Christian Ministry's online Church service, today's sermon is a part of the Understanding The Gospel Series and is titled: Once Saved Always Saved. The purpose of this sermon is to explain the basic gospel of Jesus Christ which is recorded in the New Testament, and the doctrine of eternal security, also known as once saved always saved. I would like to begin by reading a scripture from the book of (Acts 4:10-12) Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED

(John 14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The Bible explains that there is only one way to receive God's salvation, which includes the forgiveness of sin and eternal life in the kingdom of God. The Bible explains that the only way to receive God's salvation, is through faith alone in the good news or gospel of Jesus Christ.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is described in detail, in the book of (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The Bible explains that salvation is received through faith alone in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is the Messiah and the Only begotten Son of God. Through faith in this gospel and the confession of Jesus Christ, man can receive salvation and enter into the kingdom of God. This is explained in the book of (Romans 10:9-11) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

The Good News or Gospel is that Jesus was the Son of God who died as payment for the sins of humanity, and that He rose from the dead after three days and three nights in the grave. The Bible teaches us that whosoever would believe on this gospel and confess Jesus as the Messiah, will receive eternal life and God's forgiveness of sin. The salvation of God is a free gift received through faith in this gospel and the confession of Jesus Christ, This is once again detailed in the book of (Romans 10:13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

SAVED BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH

It is important to understand that the Bible explains that the salvation of God is received through faith alone in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and not by our own works or righteousness. The Bible explains that there is nothing we can do as people to please God, other than to have complete faith in the sacrifice of His Son. The Bible explains this concept in the book of (Hebrews 11:6) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

The only thing that can redeem man before God, is the Blood of Jesus Christ and faith in the gospel recorded in the New Testament. The Bible explains that salvation cannot be received through good works, or our own righteousness, it explains that our works and righteousness are not acceptable to God, and that no one will be saved who trusts in their own works or righteousness. This is explained in the book of (Isaiah 64:6) But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

This concept is detailed once again in the book of (Romans 3:10-12) As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

The Bible explains that no one is good enough to receive Salvation, and that it is a free gift given to man by the grace of God. God's salvation cannot be earned through keeping the commandments, acts of charity or religious rituals. Salvation is obtained through faith alone and once someone truly believes in the gospel of Jesus Christ, they can never lose their salvation, because once they are saved, they are always saved.

ETERNAL SECURITY

The Bible explains that through faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ, man can receive redemption and eternal life through the grace of God. Salvation is a free gift from God and Jesus guarantees the eternal security of the believer. The Bible does not teach that salvation can be lost or taken away at any time, as this is a false doctrine used to manipulate and control people who know not the scriptures. The Bible teaches us that once we are saved by grace through faith, we are always saved and can never lose our salvation, this is the doctrine of eternal security and it is recorded in the book of (John 6:35-40) And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

This is the good news preached by Jesus Christ, He promised those that believed on Him eternal life and that He would never cast us away (Romans 8:35-39). The Bible teaches us that nothing can separate us from the love of God and His Son Jesus Christ, it explains that God will be with us through distress, persecution, famine and war, and once we are saved, we are always saved. I would like to finish today' sermon with a scripture from the book of (John 5:24) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
